November 2018 - Hurricane Relief Update

Oktoberfest Thank You

Thank God for the beautiful weather and your Spirit that was present in your Church!   Thank you to the leaders of this year’s event.  You have faithfully met since last year to help plan and organize for this major outreach event.  I think your prework made a big difference.  Thank you to ALL who served for the event.  So many families had a wonderful time and were blessed by the photo booth, cake walk, meal, pretzels, games, crafts, music, and more.  We were able to raise over $1500 for Hurricane Michael Relief. Pastor Jason met more people who expressed interest in Hope than any other event.  Awesome!

New Sunday Morning Schedule

The congregation voted in October to the following new Sunday schedule.  The changes are being made to provide pastors and volunteers more time to get to the later service from the other services.

8:00 – Ed Walline Worship Experience & Inlet Beach Worship Experience (beginning Dec. 9th)

9:30 – Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar Worship Experience

10:00 – Fellowship @ 98 campus

11:00 – Family Worship Experience @ 98 campus

Daylight Savings Time is this weekend

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour.

Inclement Weather Reminder

If the weather is below 50 degrees at 8 am, raining, or other acts of God the 8 am Beach Worship at Ed Walline Beach is moved to Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar.

Memorial Service for Don Steidley – Saturday, November 3 @ 11:00

Hope will hold a memorial service for Don Steidley, Barbara’s husband, on Saturday with a luncheon to follow.  Memorials can be made to Hope on the Beach: Inlet Beach Fund.

Inlet Beach Launch Team

We are so grateful for all that have stepped up and eager to help launch the new worship experience on Inlet Beach.  Some have said they would serve to get it started, but plan to still attend one of the existing services and some are planning to be the team that will help set up, greet, and clean-up for the services.  Several events and mission opportunities have been planned.  We are excited to see God raising up others to bless the east end of our county with His love.  If you are interested in helping or learn more, please contact Pastor Corey.

Hurricane Michael Relief Update

Thank you, everyone, for all your prayers, help and support for our sister congregations and communities.  We are thankful that with your help the distribution center at Trinity in PC has served over 4,500 people in 1,100 families, over 1,500 people have received hot meals by the mobile grill team and volunteers, many hours of chainsaw and clean up work have already been given, and over $40,000 donated to be used in relief efforts.  We are excited that a mobile chapel is on its way to Redemption Lutheran in PC, volunteers are working hard to help the Early Childhood Center at Good Shepherd re-open, a volunteer camp with bedding and showers is almost fully established at Trinity in PC and mobile grill team and volunteers from Montgomery have been to Ascension Lutheran in Marianna.  There really is so much generosity right now, that we can’t list it all.  However, we do want to encourage you to pray about how God might be calling you to make a difference.  If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please talk to Jason or Kristie. We are still looking for volunteers to help with the cooking teams, distribution, and chainsaw or clean-up teams.   A team from Hope is going this Wednesday to hand out BBQ chicken sandwiches and supplies.

If you would like to help on days a Hope team is not going over then you may reach out to these leaders. For chainsaw, clearing, or building please contact Pastor Ed Brashier 205-296-3714.  To work at Distribution Center contact Kathy Roberts 850-624-9887.  For cooking team or transport supplies text Shelley 636-578-1238 or call/text Steve Stipes 636-397-1717.

Other News

At the last Voters’ Meeting, the congregation voted to designate a call to the St. Louis Seminary for Jacob Scheler to be accepted into the Specific Ministry for Pastor’s Program.  This means that should the seminary decide to fulfill the request at their November 12 meeting, Jacob would begin seminary studies while serving at Hope.  Jacob’s main areas of responsibility include Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar, Young Adult Ministry, Admin assistant, Outreach and Youth Ministry. We invite you to join us in praying for God’s will.  Jacob is scheduled to preach his first sermon Sunday, November 25th.

Job Opportunities

We are also looking to fulfill some other part-time positions: administrative assistant, children’s ministry coordinator, and nursery worker.  If you or someone you may know is interested in any of these positions, please contact the office.

Children’s Room

We are so thankful to have Kyle back in town to finish the artwork in the children’s room.
