Pastor Jason was able to return to bringing the Word of God to the people of Hope this past weekend. We are thankful for the word he shared with us as it was touching to many of us. Can you remember a nickname that you were given sometime in your past? Was it a name you wished you could forget about? I think many of us have those names that they hope to never hear again and pastor’s sermon “Getting Past Your Past: Breaking Labels that Bind” was very encouraging as we remember the promises found in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun.” How reassuring that is to know that God claims us as his child and gives us a name. Sometimes we may not be ready for that new name or title, but God helps us to grow into it.

Pastor Jason shared how he had to grow into his new title of pastor some years ago. As a child he was called a “mumbler” and felt like he didn’t have anything important to say. However, God called him into the pastoral ministry and it is God who has helped him grow in many ways to be the pastor he is. What name or title has God given to you; mom, dad, friend, encourager, helper, teacher? Look to God to help you fulfill your God given calling and recognize His label only.

1.  God will give you a new name. Isaiah 62:2
2.  God will give you a new future. Matthew 16:17-18
3.  God will give you a new plan. Jeremiah 29:11 Philippians 3:13-14

What a blessing that we know we are His children and He loves us.
